Moonlight on Kastanienallee / Zionskirchstrasse

Berlin Kastanienallee Zionskirchstrasse

Almost full moon – but not quite yet. The houses on the corner of Kastanienallee / Zionskirchstrasse look yellow-ish, lit by the typical East Berlin yellow-ish street lamps. The tram cables cut the sky into polygons. Some clouds passing by, glowing, lit by the moon. A nice and quiet evening in the part of Mitte that feels like Prenzlauer Berg.

Corona-Situation in Berlin – Stay safe. Stay home. Stay Berlin.

Stay Home - Berlin writing on the Wall

As of today over 1.000 Berliners have lost their lives with or because of the coronavirus. 42 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours alone.

Again over 1.500 new cases were reported in a 24h time frame. That means that currently more than 200 per 100.000 Berliners catch the virus over a time period of 7 days.

Currently all shops, except for grocery stores, book stores, pharmacies and other stores selling things of daily need, are closed. As are all bars, clubs, theaters, cinemas and restaurants. The only exception is take away food and food delivery. And of course you can order things from some stores either online or by email or telephone.

People are asked to stay at home to stop the spread of the coronavirus. This means that you’re basically only allowed to leave your home for a good reason like going grocery shopping, visiting a doctor or doing sports. Yes, going for a walk is considered sports.

Drinking alcohol outside is currently prohibited – and meeting somebody outside or at somebody’s home is quite restricted. Meeting people is not considered a good reason that would justify leaving your home. And also a maximum of 5 people from a maximum of two different households may meet – but of course it is not recommended to meet anybody at all.

Stay safe. Stay home. Stay Berlin.

Happy Holidays anyways.

Due to the Corona virus many many places, venues and locations had to close down for quite a while. Also the language school in Kastanienallee was temporarily closed – as was the food stand in front of the school and the sign next to it.

The Oderberger Strasse streches rather exactly from East to West . This means the sun rises on the one end of the street and sets on the other – towards Mauerpark.

Another photo taken from Ackerstrasse facing towards Invalidenstrasse / Mitte / TV Tower. The rather unspectacular Berlin Skyline as it is seen from this very spot.

Luckily some dark clouds add a little bit of drama to the view on this otherwise rather sunny day.
